Grindstore Hottest Picks of 2012

2012 is set to be a massive year for new music and we have got our eyes on two of the hottest band of the year. Both signed to Fearless Records; Tonight Alive and Motionless in White are making some serious waves in the pop punk and metalcore scenes respectively. In this blog, we’re going to take a closer look at these ear bashing bands and what to expect over the next 12 month (as well as some must have merchandise from out new hottest picks).

Straight from the depths of down under, Tonight Alive have merged two previous music careers to create their upbeat, energising sound. The lively lead singer; Jenna McDougall, began her road to stardom with an acoustic solo career and Whakaio and Cam Adler were part of a garage punk band before they formed Tonight Alive in 2008 and brought Matt Best and Jake Hardy into the mix. Their debut album ‘What Are You So Scared Of?’ was release in 2011 and took the number 1 spot in the iTunes alternative charts. Not only will Jenna’s powerful vocals and ‘easy on the eye’ looks leave you spell bound but her superbly talented band mates will leave you tapping your feet and singing along to some of their top tracks including ‘Breaking & Entering’ and ‘Thank You & Goodnight’ which features the rather well know Mark Hoppus of Blink 182 fame. So obviously, we are pretty excited about this Auzzie band with their passion for making the best of life through their awesome tracks. If you’re looking for a new band to dive into in 2012 then make sure you get your ears around Tonight Alive for a generous lashing of 21st century pop punk goodness.

On the other hand…Are you ears ready for a full throttle thrashing? Are you looking for an insane new band to sink your teeth into? Then why not turn it up loud for Motionless in White. Under the talented wings of Tim Skold (Marilyn Manson’s producer) Motionless in White have already caused quite a stir in the metalcore scene and even more so in the religious sector with their eye opening debut music video for ‘Immaculate Misconception’! Fronted by Chris Motionless, these ear pummelling antagonists of the metalcore scene are ready and unwilling to wait for their time in the limelight. With the 2010 release of their album ‘Creatures’, Motionless in White have gained a massive following across the rock world and now, if you haven’t already, it’s time for you to treat your open ears to these (literally) bloody brilliant men in black (paint or permanent marker; we’re not quite sure which).

If either of these knee tremblingly wonderful bands take your fancy then make sure you keep an ear out for new releases and maybe even pop down to your local music distributor and treat yourself to a little bit of back catalogue action. As well as soaking up the sounds, make sure you keep an eye out for some brilliant new merchandise which will be appearing on in the next few days!We would love to get some feedback from you lot about Tonight Alive and Motionless in White. Do you like, love or loathe them? Favourite tracks? Have you seen them live? Do you believe MIW are wearing paint or Sharpie? Whatever you have to say, let us know!!
